In 1995, friends Kiryu, Nishiki, Yumi, and Miho "plan a heist at a local arcade. However, the arcade is under the control of the Dojima Family, a powerful yakuza organization that rules Kamurocho. They dive into the yakuza-controlled underworld of 1995 Kamurocho. Meanwhile, in 2005, Kiryu is set to be released from prison. He learns from Detective Date that his friends are in danger and decides to return to Kamurocho to protect them. Violet Evergarden 2021 Orchestra Concert Commentary

Translation of official comments about the tracks of the Violet Evergarden OST that were played in the latest orchestra concert. Compilated from the official Twitter account.

TV series opening: “Sincerely”

When deciding on a singer, Saitou-san, the music producer, apparently said, “‘Violet’ is definitely going to be a series that people will love for a long, long time. Give me someone to sing a song that will keep on living for generations”, and then chose TRUE-san.

The TV series’ “Medley”

This one was delivered as a special orchestra version for the performance.

A look back on the beginning of the trajectory that Violet treaded, along with the magnificent orchestration of the Leidenshaftrich Symphonic Orchestra.

TV series episode 9 special ending: “Believe in...”

This song depicts how Violet’s heart was saved. Yuuki Aira-san sings alongside the changes in her mentality.

The Gaiden’s “Debutante Waltz”

This one was delivered along with an animation scene of Violet and Isabella dancing waltz.

It is a dance that bids goodbye to their days of being together, as well as a track that approaches Isabella’s mentality as she decides to prepare herself for accepting her own fate.

The Gaiden’s theme song: “Amy”

Chihara Minori-san was also in charge of the lyrics for this one. There was also a time when she had to exchange letters with the director in order to discuss said lyrics.

When listening to it, please try to note that the first half is sung from Amy’s point of view and the second half is sung from Taylor’s. ✉

“The legacy of Violet Evergarden”

The composition of this one is the main motif of the movie.

“Beyond These Waves”

This track says volumes of Violet’s heart, which does not speak much for itself.

The movie’s soundtrack was recorded in Germany. It seems the German musicians also had a hard time because the difficulty level was high for the stringed instruments.

“Tears in the Rain”

As the track’s title says she cries in the rain. This track was made for Violet to cry, as well as to nestle close to the audience’s desire to cry.

“Violet’s Final Letter”

The contents of the order made to Evan Call-san by sound director Tsuruoka was “the most sublime music”. The word “gratitude”, which Violet put into the last letter that she wrote to Gilbert, is embodied in this track.

“Michishirube”

Regarding this track, producer Saitou-san said, “I was overwhelmed by the large amount of devotion that Chihara Minori-san put into this.”

Evan Call-san’s arrangement, which greatly develops into a climax triggered by Violet’s line, “Major”, should also be noticed.

“Echo Through Eternity”

The main theme of the movie. Evan Call-san did the conduction.

Violet is not together with her friends from the postal company, but her melody is playing. This track symbolizes that their memories of each other will remain.

The movie’s theme song: “Will”

“With this song, Violet’s story comes to a close. Let’s make a song that we won’t regret. That’s what all of us were thinking when we created this song.”

The feelings of all the artists and creators were concentrated into one in this song.

“To the People of the Future”

This track has Ann, who appears in the TV series, as the motif. Director Ishidate liked the fact that its composition was linked to the movie’s theme, and apparently, he drew the movie’s storyboards while listening to it. It became the grand finale of the movie.

“Violet Snow”

This song is the beginning of everything in “Violet”. It became a regular encore song at the concerts.

I just found this cool database of video game/anime/seiyuu music and composers. This information is available here and there if you know where to look, but it’s nice to have it all in one place in English. And it’s fun to click through the credits and learn about the people who make these songs and what else they’ve worked on. 

For example, the lady who sang the Hibike Euphonium OP (Dream Solister) under the stage name TRUE has also written a ton of lyrics for other people and franchises, but under her real name Miho Karasawa. Or Hyadain being literally everywhere, if you look under his real name Kenichi Maeyamada. The same guy who did the Nichijou openings wrote HYORI ITTAI? Everyone’s second favorite hxh ending (with the best one being hunting for your dream of course)???

Anison Singer TRUE to Live-stream Her Performances from Recording Studio on June 26

    The official website for anison singer TRUE (Miho Karasawa) announced today that she will live-stream her performances from a recording studio for free on YouTube Live and LINE LIVE from 21:00 on June 26 (JST) / 05:00 on June 26 (PT), under the title "TRUE Online LIVE."

  Karasawa started her singing activities under her new artist name TRUE by releasing "UNISONIA," the OP theme for the TV anime Buddy Complex, in February 2014. Since then, she has performed the theme songs for Maria the Virgin Witch, Sound! Euphonium, Comet Lucifer, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Violet Evergarden, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and many more.

  Her solo concert "TRUE Live Sound! vol.4 ~Progress~"was originally scheduled to be held at Hihon Seinenkan in Tokyo on May 17, but it has been postponed to January 17, 2021, at Nakano Sunplaza Hall in Tokyo, due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. She has decided to offer this live-streaming performance with a hope that as many people as possible will come to the postponed concert at Nakano Sunplaza, where has been one of the goals in her career.

  She says on Twitter, "Because it's a time like this, I want you to reach for the music. I've collected all the songs that are important to me. Let's make this a special time to touch each other's hearts!"
